    A 6-year-old student is being held by police after shooting a teacher at a Virginia school.

    According to authorities, a 6-year-old pupil is in jail after shooting and injuring a teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia, on Friday.

    “The teacher’s injuries are thought to be life threatening. The inquiry is still underway, according to the Newport News Police Department.

    According to the authorities, no pupils were hurt in the event, but the teacher was brought to a nearby hospital.

    Several US media outlets stated that the teacher is a woman in her 30s.

    The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time, according to authorities.

    According to Police Chief Steve Drew, the incident was “not an accidental shot” and occurred amid an altercation between the teacher and the youngster.
