On Thursday, Russia’s top senator stated that Ukraine is “begging” the United States and the European Union for a “wonder weapon” in the shape of F-16 fighter planes.

“The criminal Kyiv regime led by (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy is begging Washington and Brussels for a ‘wonder weapon’ that will solve all their problems,” Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin tweeted on Telegram.

Volodin said that these “wonder weapons” were first US-made howitzers that evolved into HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and Leopard and Bradley tanks, claiming that none of them had aided Ukraine’s counteroffensive since early last month.

“Our soldiers and officers are systematically destroying Western equipment.” Now … The Kyiv government wishes for F-16 fighter jets. It was all in vain. “Our pilots and air defence will destroy them,” Volodin added.

Volodin further claimed that any additional weaponry sent by the United States or an EU member state will “no longer be able to influence the outcome of the special military operation.”

“The only effect this will have is that many countries will refuse to buy advertised American and other Western weapons that have proven ineffective on the battlefield,” he continued.

Since the Russia-Ukraine war began on February 24, last year, Western nations have continued to provide military and financial assistance to Kiev. They have been hesitant to send fighter planes to Kyiv thus far.

Denmark and the Netherlands, on the other hand, are leading Western nations in training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter planes.
