Somali Magazine September 21,2023-The US’s finest M1 Abrams main combat tanks will begin arriving in Ukraine next week, according to President Joe Biden, who welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Thursday.

The tanks’ arrival on the battlefield comes as Ukrainian forces continue to conduct a counteroffensive aimed at forcing Russia out of seized regions.

To aid in this effort, Biden announced a new $325 million military aid package that includes additional air defence, including a second HAWK air defence system, anti-tank weaponry, artillery ammo, and additional ammunition for HIMARS long-range missile systems that are currently delivered.

It did not, however, contain long-range surface-to-surface missile systems known as ATACMS, which Ukraine has officially stated will help its war effort.

According to Biden, the support demonstrates a longer-term commitment to Ukraine’s defence, security, and economic development.

“Just as we’re committed to assisting Ukrainians in defending themselves now, we’re also committed to assisting them in recovering and rebuilding for the future, including supporting reforms that will combat corruption and create an environment in which American and European businesses want to invest,” he said.

“We are committed, along with 29 other partners, to assisting Ukraine in building a force capable of ensuring Ukraine’s long-term security, capable of deterring future threats to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom, which are currently underway.” Because that is exactly what this is all about. The present. “The future of liberty,” he added.

Zelenskyy thanked Biden and the American people for their support.

He described the talks as “very productive, strong negotiations,” and said the US agreed to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences ahead of the winter, when Russia is anticipated to start its attacks on crucial Ukrainian infrastructure, including power required to heat homes and businesses.

Zelenskyy visited Capitol Hill earlier this week to rally support for ongoing US assistance, particularly among Republican rank-and-file members, where opposition has grown.

When asked if Congress would continue to back attempts to arm and defend Ukraine, Biden replied, “There’s no alternative.”

“I’m counting on the good judgement of the United States Congress,” he explained.
