In a 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2024) Group D game, France defeated Austria 1-0 on Monday.

In the 38th minute at Dusseldorf Arena, France took the lead thanks to a header from Austrian Maximilian Wober that ended up in his own net.

Just before the halftime siren, in the 45th minute, French sensation Kylian Mbappe had a chance to increase the advantage, but Austrian goaltender Patrick Pentz’s prompt intervention stopped him.

In the 55th minute, Mbappe was one on one with Pentz and missed another opportunity.

After squandering another goal opportunity in the 85th minute, Mbappe was forced to leave the game due to a nasal injury. However, he received a yellow card for entering the field before his treatment was finished, which prevented him from being replaced.

The game finished 1-0 after the Blues wasted many opportunities to increase their advantage.

In the Group D rankings, Austria is in fourth place with no points, while France is only below the Netherlands with three points and a goal differential.
