At least 39 people were murdered on Tuesday in Nyala, South Darfur’s capital, when rockets fell on their homes amid combat between the army and paramilitaries, according to a medical source and witnesses.

According to the UN, over 50,000 people have been forced to escape Nyala since August 11, where communications networks have been effectively cut off owing to the ferocity of the fighting.
