According to Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a Syrian photojournalist was hurt during a protest in the French capital of Paris as a result of police intervention.

The Paris-based media watchdog claimed that Zakaria Abdelkafi was hurt above his eye during a police charge during a protest by thousands of people demanding pay increases in the face of the nation’s high inflation.

According to reports, “street medics” responded quickly to the 38-year-old cameraman’s profuse bleeding and declared him stable; his eye was unharmed.

Noting that the journalist had previously covered the Syrian civil war, it went on to say that they are “actively investigating this incident.”
