Somali Magazine 26 Aug 2023- On Thursday, the tranquil environment of Hargeisa, Somaliland’s capital, was interrupted by a brawl between two revered traditional elders, Sultan Saleban Boqor Osman, also known as “Habar,” and Sultan Aresh, leaving Sultan Mahad Aresh injured.
Sultan Habar and Sultan Aresh’s argument escalated until Sultan Habar allegedly fired a bullet, wounding Sultan Mahad Aresh in the leg. The heated dispute that preceded this sad occurrence is still being investigated.
Fortunately, prompt police involvement avoided further escalation, as law enforcement officers came on the scene and apprehended Sultan Habar. Meanwhile, Sultan Mahad Aresh, who was critically injured, was transported to a neighbouring medical institution and is presently receiving treatment for his wounds.
This heinous episode is eerily similar to one that occurred last year, when Sultan Habar was embroiled in a fight with Guruuje, a member of the Somaliland House of Representatives. Sultan Habar had wounded Guruuje with a stick during that confrontation, raising suspicions about his temperament and proclivity for violence.
