On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Wagner of “treason.”

In a speech to the country, he stated that the Russian Armed Forces had been given orders to “neutralise those who organised the armed rebellion.”

Any disruption in the country represents a “mortal threat,” he added, adding that Moscow’s response will be “tough.”

“We will not allow another civil war to occur, and we will protect our people and statehood,” Putin declared.

He praised Wagner warriors in Ukraine, referring to them as “heroes.”
