On Wednesday morning, a mother was slain in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu after three mortar bombs fired from an unknown position hit her residential residence.

The mortar assaults were largely concentrated in the Bondhere sector, close to the Presidential Palace.

One of the mortar shells hit the house of an elderly mother who was awake for prayers at the time, according to neighbours who talked to local  Media.

They claimed that the mortal struck the old mother’s house, devastating everything and entirely dismembering her.

” I heard a very loud sound in the neighbourhood at dawn, so I peered through the window at my neighbor’s house and saw smoke billowing from it, and when I inquired, I was told that the old mother was killed in the attack. ”

Although no group claimed responsibility for the attack, Al-Shabab is known to take credit for such strikes.

Security officials had not to comment on the event at the time this news was published.

The mortar shell assaults come months after Mogadishu experienced relative calm with increased security patrols.

Furthermore, mortar assaults are widespread in Mogadishu, a city still reeling from decades of civil unrest and upheaval.
