Tehran reported on Monday that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials died in a helicopter crash in the country’s northwestern state.
Mohsen Mansouri, Iranian Deputy President for Executive Affairs, claimed in a statement on his X that everyone on board died, including the president, foreign minister, accompanying group, and helicopter crew.
Earlier, Iranian official media announced the deaths of the president and everybody aboard the chopper, which crashed in a hilly area of East Azerbaijan Province on Sunday afternoon.
The chopper also carried Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malik Rahmeti, and Tabriz Province Imam Ayatollah Ali Hashim.
