Somali Magazine – Liverpool won the English League Cup with a close victory over Chelsea, due to an extra-time goal by Virgil van Dijk, extending their record.
The contest at Wembley Stadium went to extra time after neither team managed to score during the 90-minute round.
Van Dijk scored the game-winning header in the 118th minute after Konstantinos Tsimikas delivered a corner kick.
Van Dijk had previously scored with a head shot in minute 60, but it was disallowed by a subsequent VAR judgment, which determined he was offside.
Liverpool has 10 English League Cup triumphs, more than Manchester City (8), Manchester United (6), and Chelsea (5).
Meanwhile, the Blues’ last taste of the English League Cup came in 2015, when they overcame Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.
