Somali Magazine – After finding them guilty of their affiliation with the group, the Court of the Armed Forces of Somalia sentenced two IS militants, Abdiqani Adan Ali and Ahmed Ali Diriye, to eight years in jail.

Both were former members of the Khawarij al-Shabaab, but they were duped into joining the IS group using Telegram, a social networking tool.

On October 16, this year, security officers on patrol apprehended Abdiqani when he was carrying a bag containing two F1 bombs, which he meant to hand over to Ahmed Ali Diriye, who was sitting in the first row of the Alnur Mosque in Dabkayo-madow, Dharkenley area.

After a lengthy investigation, the Military Court Prosecution Office sought that both cases be combined and a trial be held in this case, which was approved on the 11th of this month.

According to the Chairman of the Armed Forces Court, Major Hassan Ali Nur Shute, the Military Court Judge, who gave the parties in the case enough time, sentenced Abdiqani Adan Ali and Ahmed Ali Diriye to eight years in military prison apiece.
