Somali Magazine – On Wednesday, the Banadir Regional Court began hearing the case against the accused, Sayid Ali Moallin Daoud, who reportedly burned to death his pregnant wife in Mogadishu last month.

The deceased’s body stays in the hospital because her family refuses to bury her until justice is delivered. The televised session is being attended by both sides’ relatives, members of the public, lawyers, and prosecutors.

Luul Abdi Aziz Jazirain, a 28-year-old pregnant lady and airport worker, died of injuries sustained after her husband allegedly set her on fire. Luul, a widow with six children, met her second husband at the Mogadishu airport, where she worked.

Protesters held signs with photographs of Luul Abdi Aziz Jazirain in her hospital bed, urging the Somali government to prosecute Sayid Ali Abdi Haji Daoud. They insisted on waiting until justice was served before proceeding with burial customs.
