Somali Magazine – North Korea acknowledged on Wednesday that it carried out a strategic cruise missile launch rehearsal off the country’s west coast to test its military’s “rapid counterattack posture,” according to official media.

According to the Korean Central News Agency, the Korean People’s Army conducted a strategic cruise missile “Hwasal-2” launch drill in the West Sea of Korea on Tuesday.

“The drill contributed to inspecting the rapid counterattack posture of our army and increasing its strategic striking capacity and had no negative effect on the security of the neighbouring states,” the statement stated.

The South Korean military reported on Tuesday that Pyongyang had launched several cruise missiles off the west coast.

This was North Korea’s third cruise missile launch in a week.

North Korea announced Monday that it tested a newly built submarine-launched strategic cruise missile, the Pulhwasal-3-31, over the weekend.
