– The president of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, reaffirmed that the Somaliland army would remain in the Sool region and expressed optimism that the ongoing talks in Las Anod would produce fruitful outcomes.
President Muse Bihi stated that his government was prepared to handle any scenario in a kind manner in order to restore calm in the area during a broadcast speech on Monday in Hargeisa.
As is customary of every traditional assembly, President Bihi expressed his hope that whatever traditional leaders and elders decide in Las Anod will lead to peace.
The President claimed, which he refuted, that the Las Anod intelligentsia had come to believe that the Somaliland administration had been pursuing its citizens.
Bihi stated that the government would identify the perpetrators of the string of killings in the open.
The President declared that an unnamed terrorist organization was to responsible for the disruption in Las Anod and urged residents of the Sool region to work for peace, stressing that “The Somaliland army is guarding its homeland from the enemy.”
Over the weekend, the majority of the traditional chiefs from the Sool, Sanaag, and Ayn regions gathered in Las Anod to talk about the future of their domain.
Abdirisaaq Khalif Ahmed, Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives, expressed similar optimism for a smooth transition for Somaliland during the current SSC session taking place in Las Anod.
