Somali Magazine – On Sunday, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Omar Ibrahim Hashi as his new Special Presidential Envoy for Civilian Protection and Stability.
Hashi, a federal legislator, takes over for former Hirshabelle President Mohmed Abdi Ware.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has directed the new envoy to properly carry out the arduous obligations assigned to him, with a focus on maintaining the Somali people’s safety and security.
“In areas liberated from Al-Shabaab terrorists, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud prioritizes governance, stability, and social services.” In a statement, the presidential palace said, “He has directed government agencies and Armed Forces Commands to provide close support to the Special Envoy.”
According to reports, the former envoy, Mohamed Abdi Waare, will be named as IGAD’s Deputy Secretary-General.
