The parliament of Somalia will meet on Saturday to vote on Hamse Abdi Barre’s nomination as prime minister.

In order to better grasp the objectives of the current government for the upcoming four years, Hamse Abdi Barre has been meeting with members of the parliament in Mogadishu over the past few days.

Hamza Abdi Barre, a member of the lower house of parliament, was chosen as the new prime minister last week by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

In order to get the Prime Minister’s nomination approved, President Mohamud was going to address the legislature. But after arriving in Somalia on Friday after a trip to the United Arab Emirates, the President tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed in self-isolation.
