The Federal Republic of Somalia cordially appreciates the East African Community Heads of State’s acceptance of the “Verification Report” on its application, which was examined and debated during the 21st Extraordinary Summit held on May 31 in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The acceptance of the verification report is a significant milestone that demonstrates Somalia is prepared and fully equipped to join the EAC. Somalia will be an excellent addition to the EAC sister nations, contributing to the region’s unity and prosperity.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Somali government appreciate the Summit’s trust in Somalia’s candidature to join the EAC, as well as the professionalism displayed by the secretariat.
Somalia expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the East African Community’s heads of state and General Secretariat for the communiqué made public, and reaffirms its determination and desire to engage in productive negotiations that would expedite the EAC’s confirmation of its membership and formal admission.
