    Beijing (China) – The Federal Republic of Somalia was represented by Ambassador Awale Kullane at the 16th Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which was held in Beijing on October 23 and 24, 2023.

    The FOCAC meeting brought together senior officials and diplomats from various African countries. It is an important platform for conversation and collaboration between China and African states. The purpose of this gathering was to talk and plan on a variety of themes relating to the China-Africa collaboration, with the goal of encouraging mutual development and cooperation.

    Ambassador Kullane took an active role in negotiations about strengthening economic ties, trade, and investment potential between China and Somalia. He stressed the significance of deepening bilateral ties and finding new channels of collaboration, particularly in infrastructure development, trade, and technology transfer.

    The draft minutes of the meeting were provided at the event, representing the anticipated progress of the work to be done during the Senior Officials’ Meeting. These minutes expand on past FOCAC agreements and commitments, and they highlight the shared vision for future partnership between China and African nations.

    Ambassador Awale Kullane’s enthusiastic involvement and contributions during the 16th FOCAC Senior Officials’ Meeting strengthened Somalia and China’s strong and growing partnership. This collaboration has aided in the development of commercial and diplomatic connections between the two countries, and the Somali Embassy in Beijing is determined to building on this foundation in the coming years.
