    Somalia: The last African peacekeeper is scheduled to withdraw in December 2024.

    The Somali government has declared that the last African peacekeeper, Atemis, will leave the country in December 2024.

    According to the Somali News Agency, Somali National Security Adviser Hussein Muallem said in a statement today that the last 30,000 soldiers will leave the country at the end of next year, stressing that the Somali government has prepared well for the departure of the African forces and taking over the country’s security.

    He also stated that the second phase of the country’s liberation from terrorism will begin soon.

    The National Security Adviser stated that the talks to abolish the country’s arms embargo are progressing well and would conclude in November.
