Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reported the arrest of a suspect in the death of Khadija Hussein Farah, a 37-year-old businesswoman who was stabbed to death in late December during a robbery in Garissa town. Michael Barasa Wanyama, 20, is suspected of being the boda boda driver who was part of a group of three males that carried out the attack.

During a robbery attempt, Khadija was approached by three men on a motorcycle and fatally attacked with a Somali sword. She was sent to Medina Diagnostic Hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead when she arrived.

According to the DCI, Wanyama will appear in the Garissa Chief Magistrate’s Court on April 10, 2023, to face charges for his role in the crime. But, one suspect, Abdullahi Shithe Weheliye (alias Jiji), is still on the run, while the other, Mohamed Abdikadir Hussein, is still in detention.

On April 10, 2023, Wanyama will appear before the Garissa Chief Magistrate.
