Following fears that Russia may use tactical nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus, Switzerland has advocated for avoiding escalation.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry stated late Sunday on Twitter that “based on information that Russia proposes to deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus, Switzerland calls for urgent action to limit the risks linked with nuclear weapons.”

“A nuclear war should never be waged because it cannot be won. #AvoidEscalation, “It issued a warning.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, declared on Saturday that Moscow would finish building a unique facility in Belarus for the storage of tactical nuclear weapons.
