Garad Jama Garad Ali, the supreme traditional clan chief of the Sool, Sanaag, and Ayn territories, said that there were no terrorists in the Sool region and accused the Somaliland army of terrorism.

Responding to Somaliland President Muse Bihi, Garad Ali stated on Tuesday in Las Anod that the people gathered in the city were not terrorists and that the President’s remarks increased tensions.

“We apologise for making that comment and would like to underline that there is no terrorism in Sool; the SSC members are contemplating their future, which is not terrorism. His words worsen the issues that Muse and his government have caused for people of Las Anod “According to Garad Ali.

Garad Jama Garad Ali labelled the Somaliland soldiers as terrorists, claiming that there are no other terrorists in the region. He also stated that President Muse Bihi would be held accountable for the consequences of his remarks.

The clan chief asked the world community not to back the Somaliland army, pointing out that earlier foreign assistance for Somaliland had damaged the people of the SSC regions.

Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi repeated on Monday that the Somaliland army will not leave the Sool region, expressing hope that the ongoing discussion in Las Anod would yield beneficial results.

The President blamed the troubles in Las Anod on an unidentified terrorist organisation and urged the people of the Sool region to work for peace, noting that “the Somaliland army is safeguarding its homeland from the enemy.”
