Somali Magazine – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met with British Prime Minister, Mr. Rishi Sunak, and presented Somalia’s strategic focus on transitioning emergency aid initiatives into long-term development projects for the long-term benefit of the Somali people, and the UK PM stated that the UK will invest $100 million in Somalia.

The president discussed the issues confronting Somalis, as well as the government’s efforts to address the famine that began in 2022 and the present situation in the country caused by rain floods that uprooted thousands of families.

In response to these issues, British Prime Minister Mr. Rishi Sunak declared that the Kingdom will begin sponsoring development projects in Somalia, including economic infrastructure and agricultural development. He stressed that they had budgeted $100 million for these activities.

President Hassan Sheikh, on the other hand, stated in a speech at the worldwide Conference on Preventing Food Shortages and Disasters that Somalia may be at the forefront of worldwide efforts to abolish hunger and ensure sustainable energy and agriculture.

The president stated that the Somali army has liberated more than 70 districts and places rich in agricultural crops, which Al-Shabaab terrorists had crippled after denying farmers’ freedom.
