Somali Magazine – On Sunday, the United Nations reaffirmed its unwavering support for Somalia’s full implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Catriona Laing, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, stated that Somalia is at a critical juncture in its development, focusing on attaining its vision of an inclusive, peaceful, and stable Somalia founded on human rights.

“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ principles and values are as relevant today as they were when the document was first drafted,” Laing said in a statement issued in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, to commemorate both Human Rights Day and the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Every year on December 10, the international community observes Human Rights Day. It commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948.
