    Weekly Briefing of the Federal Government of Somalia Mogadishu, Wednesday, August 9, 2023

    1- President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud came in the Galmudug town of Dhusamareeb, as the FGS prepares to complete the first phase of military operations to remove the Kharijites Al Shabab.

    2- His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, presided over a meeting of the National Security Council to review the fulfilment of preparations to free the nation and the battle against the Kharijites Al Shabaab terrorists.

    3- His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, met with a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who conveyed a message from King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

    4- His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, met with the traditional elders of Galmudug and addressed how they could play an essential part in the struggle to remove the Kharijites Al Shabaab in the remaining territories of Galmudug.

    5- Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, has formally launched the National Blood Bank Centre, which has long been required by the Somali population.

    6- Prime Minister Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre met with British Ambassador to Somalia Michael Nithavrianakis in his office and discussed ways to deepen the two nations’ relationship and collaboration.

    10- Somalia’s government has denounced the cruel event in which armed men slaughtered children in Galgudud.

    11- With the assistance of foreign allies, the Somali National Army killed 45 Al-Shabaab rebels, including their leaders, in the Qoob Yahaas area near Buule-Burde District in Hiran region.

    12- The Somali National Army and its foreign allies detonated four trucks with explosives built by the Kharijites Al Shabab in the Mukayle district of Hiran’s Bula Burte District, killing all of the terrorists involved.

    13- In Mogadishu, the Ministry of National Security organised an awareness seminar regarding the country’s struggle against the Kharijites Al Shabab militants.

    14- Somalia’s Minister of Information, Mr. Daud Aweis Jama, told the press that the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA) had detained ten government security officials who were Kharijites spies.

    15- Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, was present at the concluding ceremony of a training for units of the National Commandos Force of Danab at the Military School in Balli-Doogle, joined by the Commander of the National Army, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin.

    16- The Minister of Defense of Somalia Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur has called the public to refrain from supporting the Kharijites Al Shabab and their propaganda.

    17- The Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) who held a press conference at his office spoke about the land related disputes that have been happening in the capital for the past few days.

    18- The Auditor-General of the nation, Mr. Ahmed Isse Gutale, spoke at a press conference in Mogadishu about the annual audit report of government agencies.

    19- The Minister of Fisheries and the Blue Economy of Somalia held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia and discussed the cooperation between the two countries.

    20- The Chairman of the Somali National Disaster Management Authority, Mr. Mohamud Macalin Abdulle, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Fea Shengchao, and discussed the issues of relief and disaster prevention.

    21- The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia, in cooperation with the Jubbaland State, conducted training on the role of girls in the management of media organizations in Kismayo for 30 female journalists.

    22- The Ministries of Planning and Education to work together to develop the country’s education plan.

    23- The Chairman of the Somali National Disaster Management Authority of SoDMA, Mr. Mohamud Maallim Abdulle, had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Arab League to Somalia, Salah Ahmed Junaydi.

    24- The Banadir Regional Court is still in the process of hearing the case against officials of government agencies who are accused of corruption.

    25- The administration of Ceel Bur District in Galgaduud Region has said that they are ready for the liberation of the district which was held by the Kharijites Al Shabab for many years.
