Somali Magazine – The Chinese government today provided a $1 million lifeline to Somalia, which has been devastated by devastating El Nio-induced flooding. The critical donation, received by Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Commissioner Mohamud Maallim Abdulle from Chinese Ambassador Fei Shengchao, will be utilized to help vulnerable communities suffering from the devastating effects of climate change.

The donation, allocated for logistical help, will mostly be used to carry food supplies that China will shortly give to remote and difficult-to-reach areas in Somalia. This critical aid will enable the equitable delivery of life-saving supplies to populations affected by the extended drought, which has resulted in food insecurity, hunger, and displacement.
